Guano Apes - What An Awesome Band!

This cover stemmed back from when I was a young motocross riding teenager in my hometown of Traralgon. I borrowed the 2000 release of 'Crusty Demons Of Dirt' on VHS. As soon as I heard this track playing over the Australian scene I was infatuated with it.

I'm using my beautiful 2018 MusicMan Stingray in this cover because I love that classic Ernie Ball tone. I’m not certain, but it sounds like one of these was used on the original recording.

A video to explain "How I got that sound" will follow shortly. I seriously love this track, especially Sandra Nasic’s vocal work on it.

From start to finish there’s a magnetic groove, thus making this such an enjoyable cover to work on. Capturing the energy behind my playing is something I aim for in each video. Naturally I have added a some fills and strumming but otherwise it’s very close to the original.

I recorded my bass with Dylan Mitrovich and then spent the time mixing with him. The side-chain compression on the final mix helped the bass sit evenly throughout.

I enjoyed editing this cover and often laugh at my facial expressions. Rest assured these come almost involuntarily.
