E MELODIC - COLOMBIA EP - MY SOLO BASS ARRANGEMENT

G’day Legends! I’m stoked to be delivering this video.

This is the third track off my 2014 EP release called Colombia which was an amazing project to work on.

Considering I was on crutches due to having a hip replacement, it was a great way to spend the time recording with renowned Australian session bassist Craig Newman. We spent a week writing, constructing, and recording the whole 5 tracks.

The idea was to showcase my ideas, riffs, musicality, and piece together a release with just bass and drums.

Drum tracking and mixing by Matt Darcy. Mastered by Joseph Carra at Crystal Mastering.

I used my 2001 Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling 4, and my 2010 Warwick NT Thumb Bass 5.

We tracked the bass through an Avalon 737, an Avalon U5 DI, and a handmade Giles Audio VDI.

The whole crew were amazing to work with, and throughout this time I learnt a lot about recording, playing, and creating.

Sitting in on your own mixing and mastering sessions is valuable. Working with Craig was an awesome experience, as he’s one of the best bass players I know. I also sat in on the drum sessions with Vish Vadivelu.
