G’day Legends! I’m stoked to be delivering this video.

The Mighty Meshuaggah.

What an incredible band. I was first shown this powerhouse around 15 years ago. A friend of mine bought me the Koloss CD for a birthday gift. Both sonically and rhythmically this track stuck with me, and absolutely blew my head off.

It took some time to learn, as were not dealing with generic box shaped patterns.. The stamina and groove it takes are also quests within themselves.

I used my 2018 custom Wyn bass for this (RIP Randy Fulmer). I wish you got to see this mate, I know it would’ve made you happy. The Wyn is strung with DR Hi-Beams 40–100 gauge, and for being tuned up to F standard, the tension felt great. The Gallien Krueger gear performed beautifully here, and the overall tone is amazing (in my opinion). I spent time on this mix, blending the original track, drum tack, and my bass to sound fat, but not lose the bands dynamic and punch. Thanks to Joe at Crystal Mastering for bringing it home.

Recording on a 45°C day with limited time probably wasn’t ideal. Everything had to be spot on, and I’m stoked with the delivery.

It’s an art form playing in time at this intensity for over four minutes. I literally couldn’t miss a fill, and the bridge still spins me out.

Choosing this song was a test physically, mathematically, and musically. Meshuggah are something else.
