PANTERA - I’M BROKEN - BASS COVER
📸 - Melbourne, January 16, 2020
G’day Legends! I’m stoked to be delivering this video.
Growing up in Traralgon, Pantera were like a religion to me.
Having the Vulgar CD handed to me when I was 16 was a complete trip. I still remember lying to my mate and saying I had temporarily lost it so I would not have to give it back too quickly. The energy and madness that record gave me, moshing in my bedroom like a mad dog, has not really left to this day. I am just older now, with a few more physical injuries to manage haha. There have been a few comments about me sitting down for the cover. Arguably I could have stood up.
I put a lot of thought into the audio for this track. I wanted to do it justice, bring something innovative to it, and pay tribute in the best way I know how.
The video has circulated globally across forums, websites, and multiple social platforms, including a share on BassTheWorld’s YouTube channel.
This cover was pre-recorded, but I wasn’t happy with the visuals, so I waited and re-filmed it on my back deck in early 2020.I’ve used my custom Warwick Corvette bass with DR Lo-Rider stainless hex core strings. I think it suited this track well and handled the lower 425 Hz tuning. The detailed tone video to follow explains the entire signal chain and exactly how I pulled this sound.
Tim Chilman is the guitarist and my friend. He has done a killer job here. Dylan Mitrovich absolutely knocked it out of the park. I worked closely with him, explaining everything I wanted.
Total respect to Pantera, past and present, and their loyal fans around the world.

I really hope you enjoy it.
Onwards and upwards,
