BRANCH ARTERIAL - WHERE ARE YOU NOW - BASS PLAYTHROUGH

G’day Legends! I’m stoked to be delivering this video.

‘Where Are You Now’ is the last track taken on the 2017 Branch Arterial album release, Beyond The Border.

I think this is the most musical song from the album, with rhythm changes, vocal melodies, the aggressive pedalling bass technique, and the heavier slap section in the bridge.

I played in Branch Arterial for 6 years, this was a great experience, we played many awesome venues. I can clearly remember our very first show together, and our very last (see above pic).

I improvised on the spot for the album recording. It came out well, but I wanted to re-write some parts for the playthrough, plus record it to suit my personal taste, which differs slightly from the album.

We pulled this tone using my Warwick NT 2010 Thumb Bass, strung with Ernie Ball’s gauge 45/130. It’s tuned in standard aside from the low B, which is tuned down to A. We recorded straight into my Avalon U5 DI, a Darkglass B7K, and a Sansamp Tech21 BDDI, then re-amped later on through a Darkglass Alpha Omega pedal. This then had some post compression and EQ.

Matt Bartlem mixed the audio quite well. Overall, this was a great album to work on and bringing this playthrough to life has been awesome.

You can view the video here.

I really hope you enjoy it.

Onwards and upwards,

Kade
